Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"As a follow-up on our activity from last time, the student had listened to a video clip and wrote down verbs/verbal expressions and attempted to define them just through what was happening in the clip. We discussed what she had come up with at the beginning of our conference and listened to the clip one more time. We then moved on to do a few listening exercises that provided clips and corresponding questions. We listened to the first few only once, and she was able to answer the questions with ease. We then listened to a few harder ones, and we had to listen a few times before she could answer all the questions. Either way, I was very impressed with how easily she picked up on key points in the exercises! She does a great job of identifying the main idea through key words. We ended the session by going over the subjunctive. We first went over conjugations for irregular verbs. I then gave her some practice sentences in English to translate. She translated them with ease, and it was especially impressive because of how she did it off the top of her head!"
"The student and I did several activities with the verb devoir in the present, compound past, imperfect, conditional and past conditional tenses. We used her textbook exercises. We translated from French into English and from English into French. We used devoir in all of the tenses in real life situations. We went over French explanations that were in French. She thinks that she understands how to use devoir much better now."
"The student had to prepare for a test coming in soon. So we spent most of our session on reviewing concepts from former and current levels, such as greetings, tenses, and vocabulary. She made some progress in pronunciation and conversation. I assigned some homework to be completed and emailed to me today."
