Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we focused on Algebra 2. We worked on the student's review sheet for his final."
"Today, we reviewed what we had talked about last week regarding periodic functions. We then further explored the sine and cosine functions and how changes to the general equation affects the amplitude and period of the wave. We also went through the appendix in his book to make sure he was comfortable with all the basic concepts in algebra before we start preparing for his pre-calculus class this summer."
"We went through integrals that converge or diverge. To tell whether they converge or not, we use the comparison test and the other test that involves finding the p-value."
"We continued to work through practice test questions, free response and multiple choice. The student has difficulty with visualization of specific problems. I tasked him with sketching more of the problems out instead of trying to only visualize in his head. Putting pencil to paper will enhance his abilities to visualize the problems and be more concrete with his mathematical concepts. He is working very hard and doing a great job. He will continue to do practice tests and is on par for our goal to achieve a 5 on the AP Calculus BC test."
"I continued to work on more operations on fractions with the student. We also worked a little bit on the concept of Algebra operations and how to use picture symbols to represent numbers. We also worked on the practice test as well."
"During this session, we started by reviewing the remainder of the student's homework packet for the week. This covered regular and inverse trigonometric functions. We focused on making sure that the student remembered to round his answers appropriately, since he had slipped up on this on a recent quiz. Then, we went over the law of sines, using it to calculate the sides or angles of a non-right triangle. He was able to do several problems that I created, which should put him ahead of the curve going into this week of math class."
