Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed French oral and written comprehension. The student has the most difficulty with French spelling, but the student is very motivated and enthusiastic about learning from his mistakes and learning new expressions and terms. Study skills we discussed were to write down new terms and expressions on index cards to test himself at a later date. We discussed reading French articles on topics interesting to him, such as soccer."
"I brought some handouts that I had printed, and which explained the conditional tenses in French (present, present with an "if" clause, present, future with an "if" clause, imperfect, conditional with an "if" clause and pluperfect, past conditional with an "if" clause). I also brought some handouts on the uses of the verb devoir (Je vois, J'ai du, Je devais, Je devrais, J'aurais du). I showed the student the English and the French side-by-side when explaining the conditional uses and the devoir uses. She seems to have a good understanding of the conditional and conditional past. She also understands the different between the imperfect and pluperfect. I reviewed when to use the future tense with an "if" clause using the present tense."
"We went over a few concepts and covered two chapters. We also completed two quizzes. It all went well, and I look forward to knowing how she did. The student was pretty receptive and seemed to understand both chapters. She seemed to enjoy learning how to conjugate verbs in the future tense."
