"We continued work on the student's math program. We got through 7 modules, including properties of triangles, polygons and circles. We discussed the theory behind, and calculation of the sum of interior and exterior angles in polygons. The student was excited to be progressing through material at a good pace."
"We worked on the student's geometry chapter review assignment. In preparation for his chapter 4 test, we reviewed concepts such as 2 column proofs, triangle congruent postulates/theorems, and algebraic equations."
"The student and I reviewed for her upcoming test. We reviewed circles, medians, and altitudes. We covered the hypotenuse leg postulate and the angle side theorem. We also practiced geometric proofs."
"The student and I worked on geometric proofs. I thought she did a good job overall with proofs where she had to fill in the remaining statements and reasons. She did struggle on one proof where she had to make her own statements/ reasons for the proof. I think that would be where she need to do more work on. Writing proofs is one of the most difficult part in geometry and I believe she would need to practice doing this to become more successful in doing them in a test. We went over some problems I got online and she did excellent job with those. She understood the angles formed by parallel lines and the relationship between them. I tested her at the end about the different properties, definitions and theorems that she would need to know in order to write a proof. She did ok but I think she would need more work in knowing them because they are important tools in a geometry. Overall, she did great job and it was pleasure working with her today."
"Today we worked on the properties of parallel lines. We talked about the congruence of corresponding and alternate interior angles. We also talked about vertically opposite angles, linear pair, supplementary angles, etc. The student completed the worksheet he got from school, and he has promised to complete all the homework assignments before the big test is due sometime next week."
"Today we started by defining domain and range. Range is the x values or inputs of a function and the domain is the outputs or y values of a function. We looked at a variety of graphs and worked through finding the domain and range of each. We also looked at how to find the slope of a linear curve using either two points or the triangle method. The student started working on his geometry project. The assignment gave a list of locations of various parts of a city in terms of angles and he had to draw a map of the city. He dictated where each piece would go and I drew the rough draft of the map."
