Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Completed section 12.9 homework on area of general triangles. The student felt as though he needed extra review on word problems in this chapter, so we spent the remainder of the time focusing on them."
"We went through problems to practice the concepts of factoring and dividing with variables. We reviewed Chapter 6 material for her upcoming test."
"Chapter 8 review for exam re-take: division, multiplication, addition, subtraction, and graphs of rational functions."
"The student and I worked on adding, subtracting, and multiplying decimals. We discussed place value of decimals and different representations such as using place value blocks. In this session she was successful with adding decimals. She is still developing with multiplying and dividing decimals, but continues to improve."
"Today, the student and I worked on adding fractions using a number line. After we worked on adding fractions using a number line or a tape diagram, he seemed a lot more confident for his test on Tuesday. We will also continue working on this tomorrow. Since we worked on math the majority of the time, I left the last ten minutes for him to begin reading a book about Jupiter that is on his level. He has to finish reading the book and answer the comprehension questions before our session tomorrow."
"Today, the student and I reviewed surface area and volume formulas. We practiced inserting the numbers from shapes (rectangle and cube) into the formula. We also practiced with some word problems. She appeared to be gaining a better understanding. She answered several answers correctly. We will continue working on surface area during our next session. Overall, she did very well today. I enjoyed meeting her, and I look forward to working with her."
