Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered: multiplication with decimals. I gave the student 4 multiplication problems with decimals for homework and had him write a summary of his reading."
"We worked on reviewing the math section of the student's PSAT for her test. We talked about solving functions for x, setting up expressions and solving equations. There were a few geometry problems we discussed as well. She handled solving basic algebra problems without too much trouble, but had difficulty when applying basic concepts to abstract problems. We will work more on this in future sessions."
"We worked on simplifying expressions, the chord tangent theorem, inscribed angles, and how to create equation of a line. The student knows the concepts when they are explained to her and also when she is asked to explain it back, but she needs more practice. She is eager to learn as always. I went over concepts with her briefly and asked her to walk me through how to do several of the problems so I could see how well she knows the concepts, specifically the chord-tangent theorem."
"We went over the student's baseline knowledge of math. We talked about what the student is struggling with, which is double digit addition and subtraction. He needs help with memorizing and understanding the information. He has a good attitude towards the subject still. We want to use different approaches to the concepts than what is being taught at school."
"This was a good session. We dealt with manipulating quadratic equations and finding their line of symmetry, vertex, maximums, minimums, intercepts, and over which domain the function is increasing or decreasing."
"The student was well-prepped for her session and asked very good questions. We were able to cover a lot of ground with binomial and geometric distributions and I was able to introduce some calculator functions that she needed to know. We will likely meet again on Thursday or early next week."
