"We went over multiple test-taking strategies. Specifically focusing on how to eliminate answers that don't make sense so we can make an educated guess and stay away from skipping over multiple problems. I was unable to access her diagnostic test through the website, which is something I definitely would have liked to see. She is a bright student and knows her things. After our first two-hour session, it seems like she knows the topics thoroughly but gets hung up on 1 little mistake throughout the procedure. I think the number one goal would to not only eliminate these mistakes but to catch them and identify them so we can analyze and see if it is related to a topic or a method. It was difficult picking that up via an online tutoring session, so I would say that if an in-person session could be set up, that would be ideal. I told her to do as many practice problems as she could and rank the questions easy/medium/hard so we develop strategies to get the easy ones out of the way and focus on the more difficult ones."
"First, the student wanted me to review some of the material that would be on his test on Tuesday. I showed him problems from the ACT and how they related to his test. He did quite well with the material, only missing a couple of ideas. Those ideas, while not minor, were easily picked up. He is a bright young man and will do well if he can stay motivated."
"Today we are following up and reviewing the student's ACT Math and English problems and starting to review her reading and science."
