Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the student's classwork and homework on inductive reasoning and conjectures. I also went through additional problems with sequences, as he had a bit of trouble figuring out the equations. We will continue to work on this in future sessions."
"She had a quiz on Wednesday so we met at kind of the last minute to try and do more practice proofs. She did proofs involving midpoints, bisection, line segments and angles."
"The student worked on a homework that had biconditional, converse, and inverse statements. Then she did a practice SAT math section to prepare for the PSAT."
"In today's session, we reviewed the concept of deductive reasoning. Before the end of the session, the student started feeling more and more confident in her own reasoning abilities. She literally was having fun learning the concepts of conditional statement and its other variations: inverse, converse, and contrapositive statements."
"Today we met and reviewed the student's online homework, which primarily consisted of Pythagorean theorem problems and specialty triangles (30-60-90 and 45-45-90). He was more energetic today than yesterday. He is improving at taking his time with problems, but he still tends to jump to conclusions in problems (especially when given a multiple choice) without fully evaluating it first. We will continue to work on that. The work Tuesday with factoring seemed to really help as he was much better and more confident with it today. He also more quickly recognized when he needed to solve for a leg of a triangle vs. the hypotenuse."
"This session was for Chemistry. The student wanted to work on her lab write up. We went over the lab protocol and her calculations. She worked through her calculations a second time with guidance and discovered a couple of errors in her groupmates' work that she had copied. We reviewed and corrected the errors and then went over calculations for hydrates. She maintained an excellent attitude throughout the session. The only additional item taught was hydrate calculations. At the end of the session, she commented that she felt much better about the material and content that we reviewed and that it made significantly more sense."
