Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over zeros of polynomial functions. The student seemed positive as usual toward learning the material. As the class materials continues to grow in complexity, it is important for her to be doing practice problems regularly to sharpen her skills. These problems can be quite intensive and we can be lead completely astray if we do not read the instructions of the question correctly. She should continue solving her homework problems."
"The student has accelerated her problem solving abilities beyond belief. Even when she is not quite approaching the problem correctly, she gets quite close. We together attempted some of the tough word probs from her homework (Singapore Math), and she was almost excitedly doing them! Her mistakes with arithmetic are certainly decreasing as well, a welcomed sign."
"The student has all the right understanding for math: detail oriented, very careful for basic concepts, and never assume what the 'correct' answer might be. Based on this observation, I decided to give him more flexibility in the future session, and let him generate his type of strategies for solving problems. In this case, he will perform well not only in the future tests, but also will be very outstanding when he decides to pursue science."
"We continued to review the student's past test. The student is a little behind in math because he was on vacation last week. We mainly reviewed percentages. We also reviewed a little algebra and solving for a variable. Lastly, we reviewed order of operations. He has a great attitude towards our tutoring sessions."
"We primarily covered types of integration, and I used practice problems to help her review. She learned very quickly and knew what she wanted to cover, which was extremely helpful. I gave her three sets of problems she can practice involving the three types of integrations and will send her more material as needed."
"During this session we focused on a double-sided review sheet in preparation for the student's final exam. She worked through the problems at a decent pace and it was good to have refreshers for her. We reviewed some assignments that were returned and she did pretty well on them. I gave her review sheets to do every day between Thursday and Tuesday. She is to email me with her answers so that I can let her know if she's correct."
