Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we prepared for the student's probability quiz coming up. She has a good overall understanding of this topic. Probability is a unique topic for math and it usually gives students trouble. After going through her study guide, I provided some extra practice problems and quizzed her on the theory and equations."
"The student is very intelligent and understands all of the concepts. He has learned to double check his work and can quickly correct his mistakes. With plenty of repetition he will be an 'A' student."
"The student worked on a Math practice test to prepare for next week's state math assessment. She got 10/10 on the practice assessment, and all problems correct for the additional practice problems I gave her to work on."
"We continued to prepare for the student's science and math exams at the end of the semester. We reviewed and created Cornell notes for science topics including, the nature of science, motion, friction, speed, velocity, etc. We also reviewed past notes from class and homework with practice problems. In addition, we continued to review math concepts of integers, ratios, proportions, unit rates, and solving equations."
"The student did some of his homework. We worked on new kind of word problem (guess and check) and put new a video on the website. We also discussed use of student-purchased workbooks."
"Today's session we reviewed a lot of the things we went over last session. This includes finding x and y intercepts, dividing fractions, solving for x, solving for y, and the Pythagorean theorem. The student had a hard time understanding what x and y intercepts are at first, but he seemed to be understanding towards the end of the session. I also noticed he has a hard time with adding and subtracting negative or understanding negatives in general. We spent a good amount of time going over this and I left him with a to-do sheet I made geared towards these problems. I also made a key that so he can check his answers. We will pick back up next Tuesday."
