Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent the first half of session going over his progress in his classes. We discussed making sure to avoid all zeros in assignments and to focus on preparing for his tests when they come up as well as possibly having longer sessions as needed. We concluded session by doing his SQ3R for social studies covering the Ghana Empire."
"We went over Thermodynamics. We talked about all the concepts including the first law of thermodynamics, enthalpy, Hess' law, etc. We were reviewing for her test tomorrow. After that we went over different calorimetry computational questions to help her practice."
"Did more work on the science fair project. Worked with the student to clearly state the question and hypothesis part of the project, along with describing why we need variables and controls. He made good progress making a solid prototype. Left him with the assignment to complete background research. It will be due 12/4 and we will meet to discuss it beforehand on 12/2."
"Today was our first serious organic day. We focused on carbon chains and their branches, doing lots of problems with both naming and drawing molecules. We also discussed double and triple bonds, what they represent, and how they change the geometry of molecules."
"We covered bonding, ionic nomenclature, molecular nomenclature, how to determine if a bond is ionic, molecular, or metallic, etc. We used worksheets that I had for my classes, which I emailed to her. She absorbed the concepts easily, as she has some background established already from high school in the topic. We are meeting again on Friday."
"The student is getting ready for her final exam in AP Physics 2. We went over a variety of MC questions and looked at some topics in more detail. We will continue tomorrow. She is a hardworking, intelligent student who should do well."
