Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Student 1: We created a study plan for his biology test. He seems much more confident with this unit and was able to self direct a course of study. Student 2: We worked on creating a direction and a detailed outline for the rough draft of his essay. At the end of the session, he said he felt confident in completing his rough draft."
"The student and I reviewed chapters 4, 5, and 6 for his US Government test on Monday. This included going through multiple choice questions, as well as playing a game and discussion. I am optimistic about his prospects on this next test. He knows the material well and answered questions easily. Unless something interferes, he should do well on the test. I have encouraged him to continue reviewing the material. Annotation, flash cards, and using the book's study guide will help him remember the details that are usually his most challenging part."
"Tonight the student completed two labs - sheep heart dissection and model heart circulation. He then completed two more assignments including the heart, and watching and answering questions on a video. These assignments are not yet due, however, he will have them completed tonight so he will be ahead for Monday."
"The student and I had not met on Monday due to the holiday, so today we tackled her remaining homework for the week: math, reading, and social studies. As usual, she is most engaged when we read together, and we started her new book: The Mother Daughter Book Club."
"I worked with the student on Social Studies, and then we worked on Spelling and Math. He is definitely coming along on Math word problems (which he was having a lot of trouble with before). He is understanding how to set them up and figure them out with more ease. He is a great kid, and I am very proud of him!"
"The student goes very fast when reading, and sometimes glosses over words that he does not know, which can affect comprehension. When this happens, I have him go back and pronounce the word again, explaining it to him if he is not familiar."
