Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student had trouble with the problems I assigned in 11.4, so we spent our time correcting the ones she got incorrect. After that, we went on and covered the material in 11.5 and did the practice problems within the text. I left her with 11.3, 11.4 (all problems) for extra practice. We finished by correcting mistakes from her recent quiz."
"The student and I worked through his homework for his section on parabolas. He did well - the only consistent error on his part was when attempting to find the vertex. We worked to correct the problem, and if he remains deliberate when solving future problems, shouldn't repeat the error."
"Today we worked on a worksheet on disk method for volumes of solids of revolution. She is doing fine with these types of problems. We also did some work in her AP Calculus problems. She needs some extra practice in the fundamental theorem of Calculus and interpreting the integral using geometric methods."
"During the session, the student and I went through some calculus through the questions. These questions concerned the application of cross products and the like to find normals to claims, parameterization of lines, where parameterized lines intersect with planes or points, etc. He had a few questions that we worked through. For the most part, I believe he is prepared and will do well on the exam."
"I met the student at the library. We reviewed logarithm integration, partial fraction decomposition, and tangent substitution. This was in preparation for an exam on Thursday. She had a very good grasp on the tangent substitution. The rules for complicated partial fraction decomposition were a new topic for her, but she understood it after my explanation. And she was good with the log integrals. Currently, she is doing better in her class than she was before our sessions. She will do very well on this exam."
"For this session, we worked on solving systems of equations using a new method, addition. The student picked up on this immediately and had no difficulty with this approach to the problem. He is showing major improvements since I started working with him, and I look forward to seeing him improve as we move on to new material."
