Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed from page 242 to 249 in the textbook. She learned "Asking questions to the patients", the verb to be "ESTAR", conjugation and how to use it. We covered dental vocabulary: 30 new words and new verbs, differences between SER and ESTAR, introduction to family vocabulary, and asking questions with "who". She is an excellent student."
"The client is taking Spanish 2 and preparing for a test in vocabulary on two sections. I gave him a "pop" quiz and we scored it together and worked on corrections to those he missed. We then created some sentences with the vocabulary and practiced spelling and pronunciation."
"The student is preparing his final Spanish exam. He needed to write a short story about his childhood, applying different tenses of the verbs: present, preterit and imperfect. Vocabulary, direct and indirect object and the grammatical figures learned so far at school. He did it and practiced reading it. He will memorize it and will present it tomorrow."
"We studied for the student's final exam with a study packet his teacher put together. As we went over it we also worked on some stem changing verbs, conjugating for the subject, and accent marks on estar. We practiced vocabulary for free time activities, too. We took additional time to go over the formation of past participles (adjectives) from their corresponding verbs and how to replace direct objects with a direct object pronoun to avoid redundancy."
"We went over study strategies for reading Chinese characters. I also tested her on all of the grammar concepts in her book. She was having difficulty remembering some of the grammar principles we had already gone over. I told her to make flashcards for the grammar principles. She was hesitant to practice speaking Chinese with me at first. I told her to practice her oral final by speaking out loud to herself so she can get more comfortable and be more confident."
"We finished the last review session before her final and went over the grammar points she didn't understand and the topics that the teacher said will be tested on to make sure she understood. We went through each topic/grammar point thoroughly and had her build examples for all of them. Overall it was productive and I was happy to hear that she felt quite confident about this exam. I hope all went well for her. It was a pleasure working with the student over the past few months, and should she have any questions in the future about anything, please feel free to contact me."
