Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We practiced for the student's test with complex sentence creation, using the verbs she got from the teacher. We did 1-3 sentences per verb using different tenses. We reviewed pronunciation, she had to read everything, and we completed a quiz with preterite, imperfect, IO pronouns, DO pronouns, and prepositions. I recommended that she goes over prepositions, IO pronouns, and DO pronouns whenever she has a chance. Everything else seems to be pretty well learned and she's being able to understand more and more vocab, and make sense of the structure of a sentence without my help."
"The student and I continued preparing for her final on Tuesday. We went over the present progressive and the preterite vs imperfect. The flashcards she made during this session really help her understand the concepts better."
"This was the final session we had for the semester. The student and I reviewed all of the concepts he was confused on in order to prepare for his final. We looked over past tests in order to see mistakes and learn from them. We focused much of our time on grammar concepts such as ser and estar, and demonstrative adjectives. He now feels very confident in his ability to do well on the final. His skills in the class have improved immensely throughout the semester, and so has his attitude towards the subject. I trust that he will do well on the final. He has been an excellent student to work with, and it has been encouraging to see his attitude towards learning become much more positive throughout our time together."
"The student and I reviewed using Imperfect vs Preterite tenses, practiced for the essay portion of her exam, and went over the difference between sentir and encontrar. We are preparing for her upcoming exam."
"We covered the grammatical constructions of tener que, ir + a, and the gerund. The student didn't seem to particularly struggle with anything. Just didn't remember a few words. He continued to feel good about the learning. I gave him a vocabulary list to memorize for use in the next session, comprised of verbs, adjectives and nouns. I was happy to see that he was motivated to learn the vocab list."
"We went through parts of the face and colors. All instructions I give them are in Spanish. I also sang them a song and we practiced a little. With the student's father, we went through present indicative and spoke about his job and business for speaking fluency."
