Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session we reviewed unit 9, which talks about the physiological and anatomical aspects of the circulatory system, digestive system, excretory system, nervous system and respiratory system. We also solved some questions to prepare for the final exam and for a test on that unit tomorrow."
"We went over an acid and base chapter in the student's book. We also used the lecture slides that her professor provided online. We mostly reviewed logs and how to find pH, pOH, concentration of H+ and OH-, and concentration of strong acids using the molarity of H+. She needs to focus on memorizing a few things such as strong acids and bases, the ion product constant of water, and the equation for finding pH."
"We covered material that could potentially be tested on for his upcoming standardized exam. We went over enzyme structure and their inhibitors, as well as mitosis & meiosis and the cell cycle. We also briefly covered digestion, evolution topics, and nervous system. He seems to know about each topic. For a future session, I would recommend that he has specific topics & ideas that he would like to be covered."
"The session went really well. We went over the study plan and class syllabus. We developed a strategy to cover in upcoming sessions. This session covered cell cycle and DNA replication. The student's basic understanding of the processes improved. The student was very receptive, and has some homework for next session."
"I completed an overview of formulas needed for final exam. We focused on Gas laws, calorimetry, inverse and direct proportionality, equilibrium equation shifts, delta heat of reactions, factors that affect reaction rate, molarity, molality, mole fraction, and components of kinetic molecular theory."
"I covered the reactivity of aldehydes and ketones. The student needed help with the basic concepts carbonyls and the dipole/ dipole interactions, so I went over that before starting the reaction of carbonyls. We went over hydration, hemiacetal, acetal formation and talked about protecting groups. While going over the mechanism I would ask her to do some parts of it and give her reasoning and she showed interest, paid attention, and asked questions."
