Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered more sequences and series. The student needs to solve the most problems she can by herself in order to gain mastery of the topic. The next topics on her syllabus will require less practice and more understanding."
"Today, we worked on a probability problem set. All the problems involved compound events and conditional probabilities. The theorem on conditional probabilities and intersections featured prominently in several of the solutions. The student has a midterm coming up, so he seemed glad to get the problem set out of the way so he could study for it."
"Today, we worked on parametric equation of a line through two points and finding the distance between a point and a plane. The student followed the examples I worked out perfectly and was able to do his homework. We arranged to meet next Monday."
"I worked with the student on reviewing the multiple choice questions he was given in class. I went over why each of the answers was correct and helped teach him how to use deduction to choose an answer. I think it would be important to do algebra review for both boys whenever they have free time."
"We went over chapter 1 to prepare the student for her test. We began working on applications of rate of work, as this was an area that she had concerns with. We worked through example problems of all 7 sections, choosing random problems from her book. She is a quick student and understands the material well."
"The student and I worked on solving work and distance word problems. She said she had difficulty coming up with the equation for those problems, but she didn't had any problems solving the equation. I thought she got a better understanding of how to do the work problems and how to set the equation up as we went through them. She also did a great job with the distance problems. She got a 95 on her last test, and the mistakes she made were just minor errors. She needs to try avoid them by double-checking her work after she does the problem. She is doing a great job."
