"Today I met with the student to work on AP Calculus BC. Since the test is only a week and a half away, we focused on the content for the test itself. I highly recommend that the student spend this week working on AP study material for the Calculus BC exam. She is a very capable student who will do well provided she's comfortable with the material. We will continue to work on this during our next few sessions."
"We began working with composite functions and determining their domain and range. The student was able to add, subtract, multiply and divide functions with minimal trouble. She had some trouble determining the domain of the functions, especially in division, but we worked on how to solve for the zeros of the function to figure out the domain. She was able to write out the proper parentheses or brackets once she solved for the domains. I explained how the domains of individual functions affected the domains of composite functions. I feel very optimistic about her attitude and ability in approaching the material."
"I helped the student with his assignment, which required him to write an analysis. We discussed the interpretation of his analysis as well as his write-up."
"In this session, the student and I studied for her math test, practicing proportions and percentages. She is taking a lot of ownership of this material, and is doing great! She tackles word problems with considerably improved confidence. We also worked on her science essay together that was related to her trip to the Bay. She wrote her draft with me. While she formulated her response, I helped her see the patterns in her paragraphs, to improve her organization. She is a strong writer who is getting better at explaining the details she has chosen!"
"I continued to work with the student on adding fractions with differing denominators, expanding from addition to subtraction. By the end of the session, he was doing excellent work. I left him with some problems to work by next week's session."
"During this session, the student and I worked on Algebra, using multi step equations. He felt confused at first, but as we walked through the concepts, he felt less and less confused. I am getting him to show his work habitually, so that he will be able to work through problems on his on. He will work more on these through worksheets that I've given him."
