Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student has an exam on Monday so we went over her review sheet. Her exam is over balancing reactions and using mole-to-mole ratios to find amounts of products and reactants. She had trouble figuring out how to find limiting reactant and how to use mole to mole ratio. I explained to her that she has to look over the notes I wrote for her and study it for the exam and that if she needs more help she can call me for another session on Sunday."
"We reviewed for the student's test this coming Friday. The chapter covered topics including quantized energy of photons, energy of electrons, Bohr's Model, quantum mechanics, and electron configurations. He now has a much better understanding on the quantum numbers and how to write electron configurations. We spent the majority of the time going over the mathematics involved in some of the energy problems. Finally, we went over all past assigned problems to make sure he knew which type of problem each was and how to attack such problems. Overall I think he is confident with this chapter."
"Today the student and I studied for his upcoming test on Tuesday that includes naming ionic and molecular compounds, assigning oxidation numbers, calculating molar mass, percent composition by mass, and finding empirical and molecular formulas given masses or percent composition. The concepts of the chapter were fairly natural for him. I left him with some problems at the end of the chapter for him to study tonight and tomorrow in preparation for the exam. I do not have any concerns from this session."
