Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student was very concerned with her ability to do problems with scientific notation and conversions as well as significant figures. We went over some basic principles of these topics and helped her understand the different rules involved. We went over one of her quizzes and made sure we understood why she got answers wrong and what she needed to do in the future to not make the same mistake. Also we went through a homework assignment she had due and discussed the answers she put and made sure she had the correct answers. If any answer was incorrect we walked through them together and we found the answer together so that she was continuously thinking about the answer. Finally, we talked about study strategies and methods to keep calm during exams since it seemed although she knew something she would make a mistake on the exam due to her stress and speed of examination. She is a very bright individual and will succeed in this course with the proper techniques and studying methods."
"The session lasted only one hour because the student just needed help with an online quiz that was timed at only one hour. She is on break this week so the session was short as there was not a lot to cover, but we did cover chemical bonding, and she had a good understanding of it."
"We went over reactions of metals and metalloids as redox reactions. We focused on the transfer of electrons, going over some of the redox terminology. This provided background information that he needed to finish his lab. We also reviewed how to write out molecular equations, ionic equations, and net ionic equations. Finally, we went over previous homework assignments on the periodic trends including ionization energy, electronegativity, and electron affinity. Overall, the student is making good progress in this unit."
