Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I looked at a lot of different properties of graphs and graph transformations. We went over the concept of a parent graph and what types of changes you could make to a graph. Then we practiced identifying what transformations had occurred on different graphs and tried to deduce the equation of the graph based on its picture."
"We worked on the student's homework together, which covered simplifying complex fractions. He quickly grasped the concepts and was able to apply the steps appropriately. He had some bio homework and vocabulary to study. We started with the bio, and then I quizzed him on the vocab."
"The student and I moved our regular session on Thursdays to Tuesday because of her upcoming test tomorrow. First we finished up a worksheet from school over proportions with variables. She flew through it quickly and accurately, and I was pretty impressed by how well she remembered to distribute negatives and other terms that she used to overlook in the past. She made good progress! Then we studied for her test over simplifying expressions, determining functions, and basic story problems. She did pretty well on the review sheet, and I wrote her five pretty problems in addition for more practice. We also quickly went over the differences between domain and range. Hopefully she will do on the test since she knows the material."
"In this session, the student needed to prepare for his Algebra test tomorrow. This preparation included problems with single variables, word problems that required the expression of formulas, and equations dealing with percentages. He needs to remember the rules so that he can apply the basics to the problems."
"Today, the student and I went over her homework on 4.7. When checking her work, everything was finished skillfully. After her homework, we went over the practice test in the book on 4.1-4.8. She flew through the problems. At the end of our session, we went over a brief lecture on 4.8 regarding f(x) functions. As long as she keeps practicing with me and watching out for those negatives, she will definitely boost her grade."
"Practiced more algebraic equations until the student fully understood the different types of equations. I feel that he will do exceptionally well for his test tomorrow."
