"I met with the student today at their community library. During our first session, she quickly brought me up to speed with her needs and background and let me know what her goals were. The following is a summary of what we covered: 1. Resolving a vector into its components. They will be using this extensively in resolving forces and velocities while studying projectiles. 2. Went over kinematics formulas and how they are derived. Recommended a few to remember. 3. Covered topic of objects sliding down a slope making an angle Theta with the horizontal. We reviewed multiple problems and showed her how to think about the solutions rather than trying to remember derived formulas. I encouraged her to remember the basic laws and use them to get to the solutions rather than trying to remember every derived one. 4. We started the projectiles, using the concepts covered above to calculate various things like the maximum height, the range, the time, etc. I gave her a recommendation to practice the covered concepts and to let me know should she run into any difficulties. Overall, she is a very smart girl. She pays attention and definitely desires to learn. I have no doubt about her capabilities."

"As per usual, the student and I reviewed his homework problems. The theme of the day was capacitance and electric potential across dielectric barriers, before finishing with a more traditional circuit diagram problem. He had a sturdy grasp of most of the concepts. For the circuit diagram, the way electric charge is distributed across parallel and serial capacitors initially gave him some trouble, but by the end he had a better understanding of how we calculated the voltages and charges. As his class moves further into circuitry, he will become more comfortable with these concepts and calculations."
