"The student did his homework package, and went over his reading material. We practiced vowel sounds, blended sounds, addition, and subtraction. He did a great job and had a positive attitude. I told him to practice his reading so he can be prepared to read to me next session. His school progress seems to be positive. He is reading better."
"Today the student and I started off by practicing letter names and letter sounds, tracing them in the air as well as writing them on his tablet. He was able to write the "i" and "j" fairly easily, but had difficulty with the "k". We looked at the difference between "g" and "q", and then we practiced finding and writing letters based on their sounds in words (we worked on "ti" and "it"). We then added more stamps to his lion letter board and then moved on to some number practice. The student has the number 1 down and he recognizes "2", but had a hard time writing it in the proper way at first. By the end of our session, however, he was writing "2" fairly consistently!"
"Due to last week's session, I introduced a sticker reward system to the student, which greatly motivated him. For each book he reads, he receives a sticker, and when he has 5 stickers, he can collect a small prize. He immediately planned out his reading for the session to get all 5 stickers, and we got through all his reading together. We even made a breakthrough with the letter "U" and the letter "Y." He needs to keep practicing his letter recognition in between sessions so he doesn't lose it."
