Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this first tutoring session we covered Calculus AP test questions that require the use of a calculator. We covered topics such as area, volume, derivatives, and definite integrals. We also covered word problems involving position, velocity, and acceleration. The student has a good grasp of the concepts; I believe with further practice she will be able to solve any problems she is currently struggling with."
"Today was mainly focusing on solving squares and then applying those solutions to quadratic equations. This is really just a new application of an already mastered skill, so there were no troubles today."
"We covered substitution, elimination, and graphing inequalities. He is very eager to do well, and he is a VERY bright. Tonight's session was a crash course for his exam tomorrow. There were many questions that I am confident he will be able to do on his own, so I asked him to do those before his test. I also asked him to bring his book next time. I did not see any grades or notes. He is very capable and intelligent. Slowing down while working things out will help him a lot too. We scheduled another session for Thursday at 6:30pm."
"This lesson was jam packed with trig signs! We started by reviewing some proofs that she went through in class. We discussed the formulas available to use in the proofs as well as some common tips and tricks to make the equivalent trig functions easier to use. Then we looked at myriad problems about the relationship between the 6 trig functions and the given side or angle lengths to find the missing side or angle lengths. Finally, we finished the session by reviewing some of the special values of the 30/60/90 and 45/45/90 right triangles which we can determine without a calculator by looking the part of the triangle and the quadrant of the angle."
"During this session, the student and I worked on the composition of functions, including many that had rational exponents."
"Today we reviews for the student's final exam. She still has quite a bit of studying to do if she wants to do well on the final. We will be meeting again on Monday to continue the review."
