"Went over rotational motion, rotational kinematics, conservation of angular momentum, and conservation of energy. The student only had questions involving two of her unit 9 problems, so I think she grasps the material very well. She did have some trouble with the problems I gave her though. They were extremely challenging and were closer to trick questions, but now she feels more prepared for those kinds of methods in the future."
"Awesome session today. The student was prepared which allowed us to move quickly through the lesson and hit all key points. His interest in science goes beyond the content which makes me happy."
"Her class had moved on to the concept of power. The first half of her problem set related to work, energy, and kinematics, while the second half dealt with power. We solved several problems so that the student is now well-acquainted with how to solve power problems. She continues to show her sharp intellect by catching onto concepts and procedures very quickly. She seems to be keeping pace with a difficult class."
"We had a great session today. We have almost caught up to the lectures. We covered a lot of material, but went a little longer than planned. We specifically covered transcriptional modification with 5' Cap, Poly A Tail, and Splicing. We also covered combinatorial control of gene expressions and different operon models in the context of repressors and activators. We also talked about other means of controlling gene expression with Leucine Zippers, Zinc Fingers, chromatin structure, and cis regulatory sequences. We also talked about Promoter Bashing and the principles behind that experimental technique."
"We covered part of the student's homework due on Monday. These were about equilibrium acids and bases. He is now more comfortable in doing cross multiplication and algebraic calculations."
"We went over kinetic energy, potential energy and heat problems. The student has a test tomorrow over this material. She seems to be doing well. At first she had some issues interpreting which variables were which, but she seemed to do well at the end of the session with this. She is going to go over the study guide again tonight to make sure that she can do it by herself before the exam."
"Today the student completed his poster for his science presentation on salinity. He edited his introduction, hypothesis, and graphs. He also wrote his conclusion and results section. He cut and glued the information onto his poster and briefly practiced presenting the information. He still requires more practice before he will be able to present his final project."
"The student knew the material pretty well as we were going over what she wanted to study for her upcoming exam. I tried to give her examples of how to answer the questions with some ease and how to double check that she was correct. We went over balancing chemical equations and calculations of concentrations off of these equations. Very bright, I am sure she will do well."
"The student has been steadily improving, and is showing me his aptitude for the AP Physics exam. I believe he is more than capable of a 5 on his exam with just a little more practice. I asked him to review kinematics and forces for now, and to keep trying practice exams to keep himself in shape."
"We reviewed the theory and completed most of the practice questions on stoichiometry and limiting reagents. The student definitely understands all of the concepts and could solve all of the problems in the chapter. He should complete the other 3 exercises in the chapter and practice on limiting reagents of a non 1:1 ratio a bit more before the exam, if possible."
"The student was working on problems involving simple harmonic motion and oscillations, and he picked up the concepts very quickly. Sometimes almost too quickly, as his rush to get to the solution sort of ran over the principle involved. But he always recovered quickly and ended up picking up just about all the important points."
"Today we worked on stoichiometry. He was just confused on how to settle his equations. I mostly just helped him understand the concept and he was good from there. We also worked on precalculus. He needed assistance with areas of sectors and some areas of trigonometry."
