Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on an introduction to trigonometry. Specifically, we covered the applications of sine, cosine, and tangent. This included using the law of sines and the law of cosines. We talked briefly about how to determine each function and the SOHCAHTOA phrase. The first few problems in the set he was having a difficult time with seeing how to get the answer. As we went through, he became more comfortable, and by the end he said he felt much better than he did going into the session. He has a test on this material on Friday. I helped him to get his notes organized so that he can easily find what he needs. I told him to keep practicing with the problems and that the more experience he has solving the problems, the easier time he will have with them."
"Today we went over the student's exam and we also covered logs and the exponential function. He just took a test so he did not have much to ask for. He has enough material to go over. This was a great session."
"We covered problems out of a practice exam no-calculator portion provided to the student by her AP Calculus teacher. We didn't get through the whole thing, but she was able to work the problems fairly quickly. We will have more to work on next week in our session."
"We covered his study guide for his upcoming exam. This included fundamental theorem of calculus, average value theorem, mean value theorem, manipulating integrals, and word problems."
"We did absolute value inequalities, reviewed general inequalities, and previewed functions. He is very well prepared for this class, and quite ready for his upcoming test on inequalities."
"The student and I worked through some of the next chapter today. She had just taken a test so I prepped her for chapter 5, in which students must recognize or predict patterns in a series of numbers."
