"The student and I trained more on "animal soldiers". During the training, we reviewed the names of animals and a few action verbs. She had fun doing it. We also learned some new vocab during the training; they were: hat, ski, go back, and arrived. After the game, I played the "Little Mouse" song for her. We also reviewed the writing of dates, names and a few characters at the end."
"The student and I continued to work on Chapter 2 of the workbook. The activities we did include choosing the correct Chinese characters, learning to write simple Chinese characters (friend, mouth, above, middle, below, work, ground, sky, north, south, east, west, long, people), matching the characters in a word/ phrase, counting strokes of the characters, and drawing pictures of the characters. She has a positive attitude overall and did well on the activities. She is skilled at speaking and listening to Chinese, though she can't remember how to write many characters. For homework, she will trace and write the first five characters on the next page of the workbook."
"The student reread the pinyin from a review story describing a family member for me. He has been practicing the first few lines and the progress he made with that part is very noticeable. I look forward to hearing the recording of the whole piece. He reviewed addition by reading out the equation and answering, all in Mandarin. He enjoyed the review with a simple game. Last, he was introduced to new vocabulary and listened to a video asking a new question. He went over the new material and then he practiced it with the teacher very well. He has the video to listen to for extra practice. I encourage him to ask this question to his friends at school during break or in Chinese class to solidify the new material. Great work!"
