Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We focused on the student's Geometry homework, and briefly touched on some Chemistry questions she had. For Geometry we reviewed using congruence to solve angles and side measurements. The next section looks into identifying if triangles can be solved or deemed similar based on postulates such as Side Side Side (SSS) or Side Angle Side (SAS), etc. The student seemed to grasp the concept quite easily with only minor questions. With regards to Chemistry, we focused on helping her identify the Atomic number/mass, and #'s of electrons, protons, and neutrons within an atom, in addition to the valence # and oxidation #. She seemed hesitant at first, but eventually grasped the concept. The student's homework from me was to write all of the theorems and postulates from her math book down, start her homework, and continue in her Chemistry."
"We went over test corrections and also went over problems the student had with the quiz he took that day regarding circles and arc angles."
"We covered: truth tables, operations with radicals, transitive, reflexive, symmetric axioms, etc., in advance of the student's Friday test. He really seemed to understand the stuff by the end!"
"During this session, proofs involving triangle postulates and the CPCTC were reviewed for the upcoming quiz."
"Today, we reviewed the volume equations for 3D shapes and the various angles caused by parallel lines cut by a transversal in preparation for the student's test tomorrow."
"The student had a quiz the next day, so we covered a couple of lessons that centered around parallel lines, alternate interior/exterior angles, corresponding angles, perpendicular lines, and proofs involving these concepts. She didn't seem to have much trouble solving questions regarding most of these concepts. Most of the concerns she had was regarding the possibility that proofs would be on the quiz, so we focused on doing as many proofs as we could in the textbook. I explained that as long as her logic was sound and she remembered all of her theorems/properties/postulates, she would be able get through these questions so long as she gets plenty of practice in. She showed gradual improvement throughout the session as she slowly built confidence after each question."
