"The student and I covered several SAT writing subjects today, including eliminating prepositional phrases and modifiers, identifying subjects and verbs, and the most common grammatical errors on the SAT."
"Covered general getting to know you. Covered basic math content. Talked about familiarity with standardized tests."
"Examined the student's previous ACT scores, all of which show very high (mid-30s) achievement. Based on score report, past courses taken, and registered courses for the coming year, my initial assessment is that with focused prep, she should be able to increase each scaled score at least slightly, leading to a personal best composite score. Began work with the Science section, which was the lowest at last testing. Student responded with high accuracy and good anticipation throughout our survey of basic skills (reading tables/ charts, interpreting between visual and text data, making predictions and observing patterns) and in guided practice with different passages of ascending difficulty. She also felt comfortable with an approach designed to maximize time, which is also encouraging. So far I see nothing but positive signs - her skills of logical and quantitative analysis are well above ACT benchmark, and her reading level should ease the demands of the time limit as well. Continued practice until test day should see a notable increase in score. Good work."
