Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on her homework which covered parallelogram theorems. The student understood the theorems but often got mixed up applying them to angles. We worked to increase her ability to visualize angle relations so she could more easily apply angle theorems to parallelograms. The student works best when she has the ability to talk through the problems with another person."
"We reviewed how to calculate the mean absolute deviation and how to use a calculator to find this value rather than using a formula."
"We worked again on finding the distance between a point and a line. We also reviewed SAT problems with a geometry focus."
"The student is enrolled in an analytical geometry course, which is quite challenging. As a point of reference, we use the first exam from his class to review, which he was able to solve the majority of after studying the formula. We reviewed equations involving completing the square and solving by taking square root, and using the standard quadratic formula to graph equations."
"New chapter concepts. More difficult homework, but good work. The trick is to work backwards from what you need to where you are."
"I taught the student how to solve for the distance between a point and a line. Once she knew the steps, she was able to finish her homework. After that, I gave her some practice problems and we will continue practicing next session. It sounds like there is a pause in learning new content in class but because she is fully capable of challenging herself, we will keep moving forward so she can master the content faster."
