Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we finished reviewing for the student's exam which is on Monday. I went over various stoichiometric calculations with her, including calculations of atoms using Avogadro's numbers. We worked through a couple of the redox balancing problems from her worksheet. We also went through calculating net ionic equations, which included an explanation about how weak acids and weak bases do not fully dissociate in solution so we do not separate them into their respective ions when writing ionic equations. We also discussed the use of solubility rules. After going through the questions that she had from studying she seemed to be in a good place for taking her exam."
"Today we worked through practice problems I wrote up ahead of time. These included calculations with significant figures, converting units, and word problems that include these two strategies. He still has some trouble with the place value of 0's. There was a definite improvement in his ability to calculate with significant figures, and he seemed more comfortable with unit conversions. We did not cover every problem on the worksheet. He agreed to download the pdf of the worksheet and finish the problems we had not covered. He mentioned his upcoming test on Chapter 2 this Friday, so the plan for next Sunday is to check in with how this week (especially the test) goes and to work on more practice problems."
"We reviewed a chemistry worksheet and lab. Reinforce understanding of isotopes. Discussed end of quarter. Waiting on grades to be posted."
