"I asked the student to do one section of reading and writing beforehand and we went over them. He's getting better in the writing section at catching number agreement and making sure that pronouns and appositional phrases have clear referents. However, he's still struggling with the use of commas and semicolons when it comes to joining two independent clauses. In reading, his comprehension is mostly fine and his vocabulary is already improving. After doing those two sections, I timed him on a math section and challenged him to only miss two at most. He ended up missing four, but three of the four problems he missed were due to minor mistakes. He is approaching the math with a lot more confidence now, and he feels that he has it in his capability to score in the high 600's or into the 700's. His expectations of himself are high, which is good. I'm glad to see that he has high goals and that he is more than capable of reaching them. He does, however, need to read the questions fully before answering."
