Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on Verbal reasoning. She is having difficulties with the evaluation of answers. She seems to get the question analysis, but the answers are a different story. I am seeing significant improvement in her approach. I left her with a physics homework question."
"Today we did practice problems from the verbal reasoning section of the MCAT. The student was able to answer most questions once he figured out the main idea of a problem. Our main focus right now is reading comprehension. I recommended reading in his free time to improve this. We will meet next week to check in."
"We covered electrostatics, magnetism, and circuitry. I took note of the student's performance on a set of selected practice problems to quantify understanding. I left the student to review the conceptual points we discussed and to move into periodic motion and waves for next time."
"The student and I talked about her previous preparation for the MCAT, and how we would like to approach these sessions. We decided to go through questions, do concept review, and talk through any issues she has in her independent studying. Today we went through some magnetic problems, reviewed right hand rules, discussed buoyancy, and the kinetic molecular theory. We also went through some biology questions that reviewed cell parts, digestion, and the endocrine system. While reviewing material is important, I also want to work with her on how to answer the questions, making sure to read carefully and think logically about the answer choices."
"In this session, the student and I worked through biological section questions from her full practice exam. The biggest topic emphasized was organic chemistry, and using organic chemistry concepts in conjunction with information provided by a passage. Some concepts included chirality and reaction isomers. We also covered several questions on molecular biology, and physiology. She will continue to send me questions she has, and we will meet again next week to go over questions from her next practice test."
"The student and I reviewed some of her critical reasoning and quant practice problems from the week. We then turned back to geometry, covering four-sided objects, three dimensional objects, and most of coordinate geometry. I assigned Quant 8, CR 11, and SC 10's for practice this week, and I also asked her to review some reading comprehension. I also spoke with her about obtaining the ancillary official guides in verbal and quantitative so she has access to more problems. Next time we will finish geometry and move on to more quant topics."
