Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The twins had homework involving slope/ Y-intercept equations. They had the basics down, and just needed some help when figuring out what the question was asking (do we find slope, Y-intercept, Y, etc.). They were able to remember the equation which was great. With the remaining time, we looked over the next section and practiced some problems in advance so they would be prepared."
"Yesterday we did some review on solving one equation with one variable and a brief on factoring. These are concepts that will be on the student's test next week, so I felt that if we spent more time on one specific area, she would get a better grasp of the concept."
"The student needed help to complete the word problem homework that I assigned her, so we went over strategies to make solving world problems easier. She now reads the question all the way through aloud, reads it again in her head, and reads it again aloud while underlining key points, all before she ever starts working on the problem."
"Today, the student and I worked on positive and negative numbers (add, subtract, and multiply). Her attitude toward the material that was reviewed was excellent. She is flying through these problems. She is a total pleasure to tutor."
"Today the student worked on both multiplication of decimals and rounding to the nearest thousandth in one-step word problems. She is strong in decimals thus far. In her books, where a whole chapter has the same type of problems, this rarely amounts to a computation error, but this is something to watch for as she continues to work with word problems."
"Today, the student and I worked on mean deviation. This incorporates information regarding absolute value and practicing mental arithmetic, and the use of the calculator to assist the student."
