Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We finished going over 8.3 and started 10.3. We worked on the harder problems involving law of sines and cosines, and then started looking at parabolas and how we can define them using the vertex, focus and directrix."
"We went through review problems to prepare for the student's final exam, including those involving matrix operations like adding, subtraction, multiplication, and transposition. We also reviewed how to determine various discontinuities and find limits."
"We met according to the game plan to tackle the material for the student's final in mathematics the following Tuesday. First, we spent time making a list of topics that she was going to get on the final, which is cumulative. Then, we started by working on the first topics. These included how to define functions and evaluate inverse of functions. Using our current method of working, we summarized each chapter by extracting the most important questions first. During our session, we were able to cover 1/4 of the material, and planned to continue working on the rest of the material later on during the week. This was a constructive session with a lot to look forward to."
"The student and I began reviewing for her Pre-Calculus final today. We went back over exponent properties, factoring, rational arithmetic, domains, and partial fraction decomposition. We will continue our review on Tuesday."
"Today we discussed limits: how to find them and how to determine if they exist. The student seems to have a pretty good understanding of what limits are and how to find them. Proofs that they exist, however, give her the most trouble. I will give her some extra practice/examples for proofs involving limits (epsilon and delta). She did very well today."
"We covered graphing polar graphs and equations. The student didn't struggle with the material, just some small lapses with certain problems. However, she understands the core concept."
