Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We continued to review the subjunctive as well as the student's vocabulary, and we went over his PSAT Reading section. For the Spanish subjunctive practice, I gave him practice questions that tested both the grammar and vocabulary for the section. He said his grade in Spanish had improved to an A, so I was glad to hear that good news."
"Today the student and I completed homework exercises she was assigned to do online. Through these exercises, we practiced her use of the indicative and the subjunctive, and we worked on improving her understanding of positive and negative words. It has been exciting to see her become more comfortable with conjugating and proper usage of subjunctive and positive and negative words. She is doing great work, is attentive and worked diligently throughout the session."
"Student and tutor reviewed vocabulary of the household and completed an exercise involving description of two photographed rooms. Tutor explained the use of reflexive verbs.."
"Today, we reviewed the major concepts we had gone over in the previous weeks in preparation for the student's exam. We started with a review of the perfect tenses and the differences between them. We then moved on to a review of the subjunctive and went over its uses to express wishes, doubts, emotions, and negation. I then had the student do several exercises practicing the subjunctive and choosing between the subjunctive and the indicative. Finally, we finished up with formal and informal imperatives and practiced proper usage of direct and indirect object pronouns with imperatives. The student said that he felt comfortable with the material and that with some more review on his own, would be ready for the exam. I also sent him several different sets of exercises that he could complete on his own if he felt like he needed more practice before the test."
"The student has a test tomorrow in Spanish, so we mainly prepared the material with that in mind. Her test is on the present and past perfect tense in Spanish. Apart from reviewing the material itself, she had a worksheet for the test that we were able to do together. She was able to do all of them pretty quickly, so once we were finished, I told her that it seemed to me she would do well."
"Today, the student and I mostly practiced aural exercises to train his ear for his upcoming trip to France. We went over negative sentence constructions (ne...pas, etc.), and common colloquial phrases for getting around while traveling. He is showing great improvement with his ability to listen to and understand the language."
