Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This session focused first on reviewing the Geometry topics that were previously introduced to make sure that the student is fully comfortable with the concepts. We then discussed factoring, expanding, and solving quadratic equations. The rest of the session time was devoted to probability and statistics. The student is a very fast learner and is doing great!"
"I covered sections 11.1 and 11.2 from her textbook. The new chapter is all about circles.11.1 introduces vocabulary including tangent and secant lines, chords, and the concept of tangent circles. The student was catching on to the new definitions as she was doing some related problems. In 11.2 the concepts of arcs of circles are introduced. I think she caught on to this and hopefully she will be able to complete the related exercises on her own."
"The student's final for Statistics is a capstone survey analysis, and today we began preparing for it. I went over her survey and offered suggestions for improvement, and we analyzed the rubric together to determine how best to complete the project once the surveys have been conducted. In our final session next week, we will go over the statistical testing needed to complete the analysis."
"Discussed area and the formulas for common quadrilaterals and triangles and looked at various applications. Using formulas of triangles and quadrilaterals the student was able to determine the area for oddly shaped figures. We also looked at the area of regular polygons using the apothem and perimeter. We worked through many problems manipulating different variables to check his complete knowledge on the subject."
"In today's session we worked some example problems for exam review. We solved sides of triangles and solved for identified angles in a triangle. We also walked through a proof, going step by step and providing reasons for each step."
"We covered areas of circles, surface areas of prisms and cylinders, central angles, and inscribed angles. She grasps this material well. We are meeting again tomorrow. I asked her to decide what we will be working on tomorrow."
