Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We talked more about entropy and enthalpy and how these forces drive reactions. We continued on our review of reactions and focused on the factors that affect substitution reactions."
"We covered a practice exam based on the periodic table, balancing reactions, and stoichiometry. I gave the student a practice exam to complete over the weekend."
"Worked through questions and professor's guidelines for an upcoming test on buffers and acid/base chemistry. Had some specific questions and good concepts to work with."
"2nd session: focused on orbital theory, Hund's rule, Pauli exclusion principle, and did some electron configuration"
"Laws that make up the basis of modern chemistry: conservation of matter and energy, energy/mass conversion equation, macroscopic methods for classifying matter, law of definite proportions, Dalton's atomic theory, law of multiple proportions, Avogadro's hypothesis, ideal gas law, combined gas law, charge to mass ratio, Millikan oil drop and corresponding equations."
"Met the student and his father. Discussed worksheet on units and unit conversion assigned as a pre-chemistry class summer assignment."
"The student and I continued to work through Lesson 2 in her book, which we were able to get through most of since it has less topics to go over and is generally shorter. We went over atomic theory and isotopes and electromagnetic spectrum."
"During our session, the student and I first briefly reviewed what we had been studying the last session. We talked about both qualitatively concepts in chapter two and looked at a few quantitative examples in regards to those concepts. We then moved onto chapter three, which he had already read and worked through quite a bit of on his own time. We discussed and worked on balancing chemical equations, mass percentage problems, and empirical formulas. He is showing solid progression in his work and understanding. I am confident in his progress. We are on pace to cover the first four chapters of the class textbook by the time his semester starts, which is sufficient as it covers everything that will appear on his first class exam."
"Reviewed conversions, density, and specific heat for Chemistry quiz and reviewed notes for Geometry."
"For our first session, I had the student take a series of exams to understand what level of chemistry she is at. I assigned her homework for our next session."
"The student completed her chemistry assignment on water usage in the home. She then completed her algebra 2 worksheet on setting up inequalities. She also planned her English assignment based on The Help."
"We reviewed/studied for the student's upcoming chemistry and Spanish quizzes; and worked on vocabulary practice."
