On Monday, the student completed her review sheet for her math quiz. She struggled a little with figuring out sales tax and discounts, but we made some good progress. We also went over her French homework. She is still working through understanding verb conjugation, but again, I think we made progress. Overall, we completed a lot of work on Monday, and it was a good session.

We completed homework for section 8B which was special right triangles. Then I had the student work on a challenging problem. I discussed it with him. I left him with the problem and a key part of the solution. We started working on the chapter 8 mid chapter quiz. He will have a short quiz on section 8B tomorrow and a mid chapter quiz next Tuesday. His dad mentioned that the student was getting mid to high 90's in geometry.

Tutoring review by Vanessa in Sandia Park, NM
We continued working on factoring polynomials by GCF and differences of squares. The student really understands this concept. When she finished her work, I gave her problems on the whiteboard over small details that she was forgetting while doing her work. I think by the end of the night she was no longer making the small errors anymore. She had a positive attitude throughout the session. Because she had a lot of other homework, I was able to help her with her French and science assignments. She noted that her math grade has increased because of her teacher putting in missing assignment grades, but for next grading period, we will make sure she does not have missing assignments in her grade book each week.

We reviewed for the student's algebra final tomorrow paying specific attention to topics he struggled with including domain and range, box and whisker plots, and identifying types of functions from their graphs. Once we reviewed each of these things he really seemed to understand each concept and was able to complete practice problems on his own. He should study a little bit more tonight, but he should do well on his exam tomorrow.
