Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Our session time today was all conversational. It was our first session and we spoke about his occupation. This led into the topic about young directors and we spoke about our opinions of them. We also spoke about the government of Cuba, their health care system specifically. He spoke to me and I asked questions, also giving my opinions. He was able to practice his speaking skills and listening comprehension. We ended our conversation with me explaining briefly about the Cuban diaspora and how we will be covering this topic in the following lessons. The student struggled most with conjugating verbs in the past and the present. I will be helping him with this in future sessions. The student's attitude was great. Very cooperative and positive. I explained some grammatical concepts/ strategies and ways to pronounce certain words. His extra practice was to read an article and watch a video that I emailed him."
"During this session I finished going over the worksheet with the "dar" expressions with the student. I gave her examples of when and how they are used. After that I asked her to construct five sentences with those expressions in various tenses. For homework I asked her to write 15 sentences in the various tenses she has learned for each of the expressions we reviewed."
"We went over a quiz I made on the question words of how, what, when, who, where, and so on. I am going to make him another quiz for Tuesday. I will make it in English and that he has to translate the sentences. Then we went over lots of sentences and questions for small talk. We discussed how in Spanish you are expected to ask those questions to people often; it makes individuals feel cared for and noticed."
