Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session we reviewed gas laws, gas stoichiometry, and energy of gasses for the student's upcoming test. I explained how the ideal law is for finding the properties of a gas, while the other laws are used to find changes in gases from one situation to another. This helped his understanding greatly and he seemed very relieved to have it explained that way. I also helped him find and understand some of the equations relating to energy in gasses. We also briefly went over how density can be used with the ideal gas law. Overall, he felt much better about his test than when we first met."
"The student had his Math finished; I checked his work. He is working on combining like terms, from variables to exponents, as well as distributing terms before he combines them and simplifies. Mostly he worked on vocabulary for Science. He is working with temperature, and had to define melting points and boiling points; evaporation, and condensation and so on. Both these assignments seemed easy for him."
"I met with the student at the library. After introducing ourselves, we reviewed her physics homework. Since many of her classmates have taken trigonometry and she has not, she feels a bit behind with the math. We covered basic trigonometry and I worked through several physics problems on projectile motion with her. This stage of an AP Physics class can be very difficult conceptually. The material her instructor is assigning is fairly difficult and dense. With practice and increased exposure to the material, she will grasp the concepts. I encourage her to keep up with her work and email me in between tutoring sessions if she has questions about a specific problem."
