Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I conducted a brief overview of concepts that included proportional standard deviation, margin of error, standard error, mean of proportion, and confidence interval rationale. With understanding of formulas and independence conditions we completed at least 20 practice problems for mastery and explanations of solutions. For example, understanding what margin of error explains within a confidence interval and estimation of true proportion. We also reviewed aspects of normal distribution models and the 68 95 99.7 concept."
"The student has a test on logarithms later in the week, and her teacher gave the class a number of problems to study for the test. We spent the session going over the problems to ensure that the student understood how to manipulate logarithms and their use in equations."
"We worked on more factoring and solving trinomials. There were a few questions that involved imaginary numbers, so I did a quick review on what that was. I was making sure it becomes a habit. I think one aspect that has improved, is that he knows that I won't give him the answers easily, and even if he gets an answer correct, I will ask him how or why that is the correct answer."
"We covered angles and classifying triangles in depth. Specifically, we covered acute, obtuse, and right angles. We also reviewed isosceles, equilateral, and right triangles. With the remainder of our time, we covered forces in science. We worked on an acceleration and deceleration worksheet."
"The student has the second of a two-part test tomorrow, so we concentrated on studying for that. We narrowed down the topics covered to the ones that she finds most challenging, and she took a practice test. In order to improve her test grade, I advised her to practice the same test over, and concentrate on staying precise and accurate, and trying to have enough time at the end to check her answers."
"In this session, the student and I reviewed her homework which covered area in a plane. She picked up the topic pretty quickly after I showed her a few strategies regarding how to set up the integral."
