Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We discovered the uses of the subjunctive mood vs. the indicative mood. We also discussed how to form the imperative, when to use the imperfect tense, and when to use the preterite. We also reviewed reflexive verbs and meanings. I told the student to study the page I created for her, the rules we went over with examples. Excelente!"
"Today the student and I worked on homework assignments he was assigned over spring break. We completed exercises using the subjunctive. These exercises also included listening comprehension. Some of them were very tricky! He did a good job distinguishing between when to use the subjunctive and when to use the indicative."
"We went over the student's homework/Spanish grammar lesson he was learning for class, and I gave him practice problems reviewing subjunctive and indirect/direct objects as well as his vocabulary words. We went over his PSAT Writing test, which his mother wanted us to cover, as well as another SAT writing practice test he had completed."
"I went over the Past Participle with the student today. We finished the homework together, and as always, I had her translate what is on the page for extra practice. After finishing this, I moved onto explaining the difference between the imperfect and perfect tenses, and we were able to get ahead by looking at the pluperfect tense in Spanish as well. To finish up, I gave her some advice and direction on how to study for tenses in general, in so far as translating and taking care to use the right pronouns for clarity."
"The student and I practiced present subjunctive. We began by going over irregular verbs and their subjunctive forms, which she did very well on. We moved on to key phrases that either signal subjunctive or indicative and the importance of the word 'que.' We started with selecting subjunctive/indicative and moved on to translating entire sentences, a difficult concept which she improved upon with practice."
"We reviewed introductory statements and conversational phrases. We worked on vocabulary for items around the home, in the bathroom and the kitchen. We also worked on verb conjugations for AR verbs."
