Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over solutions, molarity, molality, freezing point depression, boiling point elevation. 2 more sections and we've finished up to the midterm. In the process of making a midterm review sheet for her. She has other finals to focus on for now. We will pick up our sessions later this week."
"During this session we went over a chemistry review packet. The student has a cumulative exam so we went over atomic structure, solubility, ideal gases, stoichiometry, equilibrium and kinetics. we didn't get through everything but we covered most of the material."
"The student and I spent the whole session working on the new material that she was just given this week. It was a worksheet that dealt with molecular and electron domain geometry and the resulting layout of organic molecules. She improved measurably throughout the session, and by the end was working nearly on her own to figure out the geometry of molecules."
"The student has an incredible aptitude for chemistry at this point and needed to simply refine minor errors on practice questions. We discussed net ionic equations in detail, as well as various types of reactions and how they appear on the exam. We also discussed nomenclature."
"In this session, we started going over History and life on earth, as well as theories for how life on earth started and what experiments disproved spontaneous generation. We covered what happened during each of the eras, including when species first appeared in the fossil record, as well as mass extinctions. The student was most interested in the dinosaurs, but also seemed to enjoy the historical aspect of this lesson, overall."
"We went over the last problem set package on the content for the next exam. We reviewed stereoisomers and R/S configurations. The student was able to make more connections between this material and previous materials. I recommended she start reviewing the past semester's exams and prepare questions that we will look at during the next session."
