Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on going over court cases for his final in Government. This young man has a knack for remembering court cases. We worked using his year-end review to make sure he had a grasp of the material. His sessions with taking notes has paid off. He takes his final 12/19, and I told him to message me when he is done."
"The student and I reviewed four free-response questions that he had worked on over the weekend and in class. I have only seen a few of his essays, but he is able to talk about the topics in order to answer the written questions. We then reviewed one practice exam of multiple choice questions. He wants to have one more session before his AP exam next week, but I asked to see how his studying goes this weekend."
"The student's AP exam is coming up this coming week, so we began final preparations to get him ready to take the exam. This involved having him do sections of a practice test, and then using his responses to identify areas for review and final brushing up before the test next week. I also spent time reviewing AP exam test taking tips and hints to maximize points and do as well as possible on the exam."
"The student and I reviewed chapter 23, which dealt with the ending of reconstruction in the south and the political and economic forces that dominated the end of the 18th century. We worked to make clear the economic forces at play in the debate of "hard currency" vs. "greenbacks", and we discussed the "forgotten presidents"."
"Today, the student and I prepared for her upcoming midterm in human geography. Based on her instructor's advice, we reviewed parts one through three of her review book for the course. We then developed a study plan for the next several days. Each unit of the text lists key terms at the end. She is going to go through each list and identify the words. She is going to focus her attention on one unit per night, with the final night being a general review."
"This was a review of the economic foundations of the Civil War. Also political issues connected to the birth and rise to power of the Republican Party. We also addressed the role of immigrants and the impact the had on the culture of the north prior to the Civil War."
