Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Yesterday in the tutoring session with the student, we worked on her Chemistry assignment which had to do with weather and pressure patterns within the continental US. She also had to answer questions from a reading that explained latitudinal temperature variation. I left her to complete the Algebra homework that we started together and to talk with her teacher about the quiz corrections. She is doing great though, and I have no concerns."
"The student had some homework questions this time around. We worked through a variety of problems involving electron configurations, valence electrons, and also some properties and equations of electromagnetic radiation. The student showed me his grades. The way he is progressing and working hard, he definitely has the potential to get his grade up even higher."
"We covered material for her chemistry and geometry exams... mostly atomic structure and proofs. She is getting B's in both classes and seems to be on the right track to keep her grades up. I did leave her some extra proof problems to work on. No concerns."
"Yesterday the student and I covered Stoichiometry and solution reactions. I am very impressed with how quickly she comprehends and applies no information. There are several reactions and they are all new for her. I left her no extra practice and I have no concerns from the session."
"I was working on the student's chemistry homework with him and we covered writing formulas, predicting products, and balancing equations. He seemed to understand the principles of chemistry well and could do the problems with a little bit of guidance. He had trouble with combustion reactions, but I explained that to him and he understood it. He has a test this Friday."
"The student and I worked on studying her science vocabulary dealing with animal, plant, and fungal life forms. I had her write down the terms on a sheet of paper and then check the terms in her textbook to see where the definitions matched the sentence completions. Then she worked on creating sentences for her vocabulary homework. She studied the words using a Frayer model. Finally, we read through a book report she had written on a book about folding paper cranes and learned how to fold a paper crane."
