Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went over word problems of multiple variable equations. The student was a lot more focused and attentive when I met with him and had a positive attitude toward the subject matter. I gave the student 3 problems to do for homework that I made up."
"Today we spent most of the session on word problems. Reading, writing down the information, determining what they were asking us to find and setting up either an expression involving 1 or 2 operations, or an equation to solve. The session went well."
"We went over the multi-step math word problems that I brought. She was able to get through all the problems and recalled many of the concepts we went over from last weekend. She was very successful on her ELA test preparation so we only focused on math this time. After we finished the problems that I brought, we continued on her online math word problems where she completed 90% of the section she worked on."
"The student and I reviewed a few topics that were on a math that she took. She thought she did very well on the sections that included topics we had previously worked on, but there were a few concepts relating to fractions we had not reviewed that she said were hard. Therefore, we reviewed how to add fractions without a common denominator. She seemed to grasp this but it will be something we will review in the future. We then continued to work on breaking apart word problems so she can visualize what is happening and what the numbers represent. She told me she really enjoys using this method."
"During this session the student and I worked on decimals. She was able to correctly use place value when working with decimals. We also worked on multiplying decimals. She and I also discussed how to place the decimal in the answer when multiplying."
"We worked on fraction addition, word problems, and graph interpretation. The student needed help with long division of double and triple digits, averages, and percentages. So we worked on those topics, and on estimation for long division. We also worked on reading comprehension."
