Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"After a short introduction to the mother and student, the student and sat down and explained to me what they are doing in class. He explained to me where he has gaps in the material. The concepts we worked on today were the distance formula, and the midpoint formula. We worked through some problems together."
"Today the student and I completed a part 2 to the Math exam. He excelled at a majority of the questions and we did some extra practice with subtraction problems because he is having some trouble remembering to "borrow". We then practiced some more multiplication tables, and are focusing on becoming fluent in basic math skills."
"Today we examined adding, subtracting, dividing and multiplying functions together. We mostly finished the student's packet, and by this time most of the concepts are familiar to her. I'm happy with our progress so far."
"We covered parametric equations in math and general plant classification in biology. For math, the student had a short homework sheet that involved finding rectangular equations, domains, and ranges, and graphing by hand and on the calculator. We reviewed how to use the calculator for this purpose, and he had little trouble with the rest of it."
"We covered trigonometric summation identities and solving trigonometric equations. The student had some problems remembering the signs of trigonometric ratios based on the quadrants of the angle. The student had a positive attitude towards the material reviewed. I explained the solving of problems step-by-step."
"We covered polar coordinates, complex polar numbers, and vectors today. We covered some questions she had missed on previous tests to make sure that she was able to understand how to approach the problems anew. One or two of the problems required some memorization of formulas, and so could be ascribed to her needing to memorize them for the test and the final exam. We also reviewed the unit circle and how it related to x and y coordinates at each points which she should also commit to memory. Overall I think her understanding of the material is good; there are still some fine points to practice. Next week we will cover logs, log equations and transformations."
