Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the placement of direct and indirect object pronouns, then spent the rest of the time reviewing vocabulary for the second half of her final exam. Her retention of the vocabulary she had reviewed was excellent! She's still concerned about her ability to apply her vocabulary to sentence completion questions, so I talked with her about strategies for them."
"The student had a quiz to study for, so we worked on making study sheets for the vocabulary, while also reviewing imperfect and preterite past tenses. He was planning to create flash cards with the vocabulary list as another study aid."
"I tested the student on Spanish vocab words that are going to be on her final exam tomorrow. After, we went over Spanish commands once more and I wrote out practice sentences for her to translate. We directed our focus on Spanish commands once more. I feel that she has improved immensely from the first session and will do fine on her exam."
"On this day we worked on a review for a chapter exam. We corrected a quiz taken last week in school, and practiced the imperfect past tense with short sentences. Later we reviewed the chapter vocabulary related to the city and the countryside."
"The student and I had our first session back from winter break. He and I reviewed a listening comprehension exercise that was assigned to him for homework. We practiced his fluency by having a conversation fully in Spanish about what he had done during the past week. We completed 7 online exercises where the student practiced the subjunctive tense. He is going to see what questions he got wrong on his midterm and bring them to our session next week so that we can review any mistakes."
"We discussed strategy to memorize thousands of kanji. My advice was to write a kanji over and over until the student gets familiar with. Then, we read Japanese materiel such as papers, magazines, and articles online in Japanese. Then, we studied a few new grammar words, several vocabulary words, and Kanji."
