Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I met for the second time. Today we corrected his homework on limits and continuity, and we did many more practice problems including theorems to assure he knew the material well. We then moved on and worked with derivatives, using the power rule, and writing equations of tangent lines at given points."
"Today the student and I went over finding the area between two lines using integrals. This proves to be one of the most important applications of Calculus. We also started to work on problems involving the volume of solid rotated objects. We will continue to work on these problems in our next session as well as go over some other methods of finding volume using calculus."
"We went over the problems I left with the student. After that, we started a new topic on anti-derivatives and the student found this easy to follow. I left him more problems similar to the new material to work on for next week."
"We worked through homework and covered concepts on derivatives for the upcoming test on Friday. From there, we build a study sheet for reviewing and studying. The student understands the concepts behind the equations and simply needs help recognizing when to use the equations. I also went over any other questions that he had."
"The student and I went over some more topics in integration, especially applications of integrals and new problems, including volume of a solid. It was a very efficient exercise, and he did very well in understanding the concepts behind the topics. He's also shown significant improvement in speed and accuracy."
"We spent our session preparing for the Final Exam on Monday morning. The student's professor provided the class with a practice exam. For the previous two tests, the professor's practice exam has been very beneficial in preparing for the test. We worked through all 8 questions on the practice exam during our session. Once we finished going over the practice exam, we talked about the rest of the things the student is going to do to prepare. She was going to go to the bookstore to buy an exam booklet that the professor requires them to use for the test. She was going to rewrite her cheat sheet that she is allowed to bring into the test. And finally we talked about getting a good night's sleep, eating a good breakfast, and showing up to the test a bit early."
